Serena Williams Wimbledon 2009 final Ladies/Women’s Singles winner | Venus vs Serena Williams Wimbledon 2009 final video - Venus against Serena Williams on Wimbledon cup 2009 final…The American Serena Williams, head serial number 2, won her 3rd Wimbledon title at the expense of her sister Venus (No. 3) in two sets 7-6 (3), 6-2. It is Serena Williams 11th Grand Slam title and her second of the season after the Australian Open in January.
Venus, double title holder, started favorite yet slightly after a very easy until the final (lost 20 games in six rounds). However Serena had to save a match point in the semi-final against Russia’s Elena Dementieva. In the first set, Venus (N.3) had balls the first break, but did not take a chance. Her sister has raised her game to a very high level in the tie-break, passing several shots winners.
Serena has been much more efficient service (12 aces to 2). It was on a double fault that her eldest gave her the decisive break in the second round, in which she dictated the bulk of trade from the bottom of the court.
The World N.2 had imposed more on grass since her English doubled in 2002-2003. The youngest of the family, aged 28, took her revenge on the final of last year, won by Venus.
Statistically, the Williams sisters are essential. In the past six Wimbledon finals, only one (2006) has played without a Californian. They have won seven of nine titles (2002 and 2003, Serena, 2000, 2001, 2005, 2007 and 2008 to Venus).
